LOS ANGELES, June 24, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX
Our Forgotten Warriors (OFW) based in Washington State, was founded in 2008 to
help provide financial support and other assistance to injured veterans and
in-service members who were not otherwise able to get help through existing
channels. Services that are provided by OFW a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization,
include, but are not limited to: providing funds to help veterans pay their
mortgages and utility bills, buy groceries and help in finding housing. They
also help fill out forms, and provide veterans with assistance in acquiring
benefits that are due them. According to their website,
www.ourforgottenwarriors.org, the goal is to help injured service men and women
reintegrate into their communities.
"When long-time friend Carol Blake (OFW, CEO) approached me about finding ways
to help bring recognition to this important organization, I saw it as a great
opportunity to give something back to those brave men and women who help protect
our way of life," said Klaus Price, founder and CEO of Elite B Inc., an
entertainment and artist management company in Los Angeles, California.
Price, Blake and Blake's son Brandon Gauvreau who suffered a debilitating stroke
while stationed at McChord Air Force base in 2007, formed a collaboration in
August of 2010 and came up with the idea of having a free concert. "The Our
Forgotten Warriors Road to Recovery Tour" for service men and women at Joint
Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM), Tacoma, Washington on July 14, 2011.
"We thought a free concert would be a great way to bring recognition to the
plight of many of our wounded warriors. Klaus stepped up and agreed that his
company, Elite B Inc., would sponsor the event and arrange for the talent,"
Blake said.
"We don't have the resources as some of the big money concert promotion
companies, but we do have a great reputation in the entertainment community. As
soon as word got out that we were doing this concert, our phone began ringing
off the hook," Price said. Altogether 10 acts have been booked, including
headliner, Somaya Reece of Vh1 fame, and vocalist Jessica Sierra, a top ten
finalist with American Idol. "This is the first of a number of concerts that we
would like to do for our armed forces. We would like to extend an open
invitation to Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden to 'join forces' with us and attend one
of our concerts, maybe even The Road To Recovery Tour in July," Price said.
